Did Your Boat Survive Hurricane Irma?

Since hurricane Irma blew through Florida several weeks ago, I have had the pleasure of talking to many boat owners, marina employees and marine contractors about the damage she left in her wake.  Along the Central Florida’s east coast alone, it’s been reported that more than 100 vessels were sunk or beached and those numbers do not include vessels that were freed from their moorings or slips to wreak havoc on the vessels around them. Furthermore, it appears many of these vessels were owned by “absentee owners”, or individuals who don’t live near where the vessel is located.

Boat and Yacht Management Services in Saint Augustine, Palm Coast, Flagler Beach, Daytona Beach, Ponce Inlet, Port Orange, New Smyrna, Titusville, Cocoa, and Melbourne.

Absentee owners have a difficult task when it comes to the day-to-day managing of their boats or yachts. However, when a storm blows through most owners have to pull double, sometimes triple duty as they are tasked with preparing their homes, families, businesses and a boat that could be as many as 100 miles away. This is where Boat and Yacht Masters of Florida plays an important role in keeping our waterways clear of derelict and sunken boats.
